Coronavirus Northern Ireland: Fourth death in Northern Ireland

Coronavirus has claimed the life of a fourth person in Northern Ireland.

Speaking to BBC Radio Ulster’s Talkback programme this afternoon, Ruth Burke’s daughter Brenda spoke of her frustration at people not respecting official advice.

“There is a frustration that people don’t understand, they’re not being respectful of what they’re told,” she said.

Ruth died in Antrim Area Hospital last night after the 82-year-old tested positive for Covid-19.

Brenda said she did not want her mother, a “strong woman and loving mother”, to become a statistic.

“She lived for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; they put smiles on her face.”

Brenda said her mother “our Queen”, had unbelievable strength and had suffered man challenges in her life. “Unfortunately,” Brenda said, “This was one she was not going to overcome.”
