Speaking to Newry Times, Hazzard said, “I have been contacted by parents and met with early years providers across South Down and it’s clear Tory cuts had put the Early Years Fund and the services they provide at risk.
“Following meetings with Education Minister John O’Dowd I welcome the announcement that the Early Years Fund will benefit from a £1.1 million funding package. This funding will allow the existing services in South Down to continue until March 2016.
He added, “I commend the minister for his efforts to save this vital service in the face of the continued Tory assault on vital public services.”
