Newry Council Chairperson pledges to ensure Brexit concerns are addressed

Newry Mourne & Down Council Chairperson Cllr Roisin Mulgrew has said that Councils along the border will work together to ensure their common concerns are addressed during Brexit negotiations.

She was speaking after attending the launch of the Brexit Border Corridor Document in Brussels.

 

 

Speaking in Brussels the Council Chairperson stated, “Councils from both sides of the border have met regularly to discuss the impact of the UK leaving the EU on  Border Corridor.

“We have been working closely and today in Brussels we launched our policy document. We will continue to work together to ensure our common concerns are highlighted and addressed.”

 

 

Cllr Mulgrew also congratulated the Border Communities Against Brexit who received the European Citizens Prize.

“Well done all involved with the Border Communities Against Brexit Campaign, a deserved recognition of the huge work this Group has done to highlight the impact of Brexit, thus ensuring that the communities concerns continue to be  heard,” she added.
