MLA Visits Carrick School

Sinn Féin MLA Caitriona Ruane last week joined in the celebration of the history of Carrick Primary School.
Speaking to Newry Times, Ms Ruane stated, “I had the pleasure of visiting the Carrick Primary School today to join in the celebration of its long history. I was delighted at seeing the displays and reading about the history of the school since its inception in 1839 as the Carrick National School. The parents, teachers, pupils and past pupils should be commended for their endeavour in bringing the history of the school to life with their wonderful displays and photos.”
She added, “The school has played a central part of the community since that period and I was delighted to announce a total upgrade of the school when I was education Minister. The new build will ensure that the school will continue in its role of providing local children with a first class education and maintain its position as a key asset to the local community.”
